Section 140: Having offensive weapon at unlawful assembly

140. Having offensive weapon at unlawful assembly (1) Any person who, while taking part in any unlawful assembly or riot, has in his possession an offensive weapon, shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 100,000 rupees and to penal servitude for a term not exceeding 10 years. (2) In this section— “offensive weapon” means any article made, or adapted for use, or suitable for causing injury to the person, or intended by the person having it in his possession or under his control for that use by him or by some other person.
