89. Summons to witness for prosecution
(1) All witnesses for the prosecution shall be summoned by a writ of
subpoena issued from the Registry at the instance of the Director of Public
Prosecutions and served by an usher.
(2) Any witness who fails to appear as directed shall, on conviction, be
liable to a fine not exceeding 100 rupees, and to the expenses consequent
upon his non-attendance, and shall be apprehended in virtue of a warrant,
and brought before the Court on the day of trial.
