17. Offences
Any person who commits an offence under this Act shall, on conviction,
be liable—
(a) to a fine not exceeding 50,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a
term not exceeding 2 years; or
(b) in the case of an offence under section 5, to a fine of 300,000
rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years.
