41. Powers of officers
(1) Any police officer may demand from any person in possession of a
firearm or ammunition the production of his firearm licence.
(2) Where any person to whom a demand is so made fails to produce the
licence, or to allow such officers to read the licence, or to establish that he is
entitled under this Act to have the firearm or ammunition in his possession
without holding a licence, the officer may seize and detain the firearm or
ammunition, and may require such person to give him his name and address.
(3) The police officer may arrest without a warrant any person who so
refuses to declare his name and address, or whom such officers suspect of
giving a false name and address, or of intending to abscond.
(4) Any person who refuses to declare his name and address or gives a
false name and address to a police officer acting under this section shall
commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding
50,000 rupees.
