42. Duty to give information
(1) Any person carrying a firearm or ammunition shall, at the request of a
police officer, declare his name and address and furnish full information regarding the purpose for which such firearm or ammunition is being carried.
(2) The police officer may arrest without a warrant any person who fails
to comply with subsection (1).
(3) Any person who fails to comply with subsection (1) or who wilfully
furnishes wrong information shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 50,000 rupees and to imprisonment for
a term not exceeding 6 months.
