Section 43: Power to require production of firearm

43. Power to require production of firearm (1) The Commissioner may, by notice in the press or otherwise, request all persons in Mauritius or in a particular district or area in Mauritius who may have one or more firearms or ammunition in their possession to produce such firearm or firearms and ammunition to the police station nearest to their place of residence. (2) Any person in possession of a firearm or ammunition who fails to comply with the request of the Commissioner under this section shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 50,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months.
