Section 34: Establishment of Council

34. Establishment of Council (1) There is established for the purposes of this Act an Information and Communication Technologies Advisory Council known as the ICT Advisory Council. (2) The Council shall consist of— (a) a Chairperson; (b) a representative of the Prime Minister’s Office; continued on page I12 – 25 [Issue 9] I12 – 24 Revised Laws of Mauritius (c) a representative of the Ministry responsible for the subject of information technology and telecommunications; (d) a representative of the Ministry of Finance; (e) — (f) a representative of the Joint Economic Council; (g) a representative of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry; (h) 3 other persons representing the interests of consumers, purchasers and other users of information and communication services, including telecommunication services. (3) The members of the Council, except the ex officio members, shall be appointed by the Minister. (4) The Council may co-opt persons with specialised qualifications and experience to assist the Council at any of its meetings. (5) Every member of the Council shall hold office on such terms and conditions as the Minister thinks fit. (6) The Council shall meet at least once every month or at such other time as the Chairperson may decide. (7) Five members of the Council shall constitute a quorum.
