49. Bank accounts (1) Where a bank ascertains that a customer of the bank is an undischarged bankrupt, it shall— (a) as soon as possible, notify the Official Receiver of any account that the bankrupt holds with the bank; and (b) not pay any money out of the account, except as provided under subsection (2). (2) The bank may pay money out of the account where— (a) the bank is authorised by an order of the Court or instructed by the Official Receiver to do so; or (b) the bank has notified the Official Receiver that the bank holds such an account and has not, within one month of notification, received any instructions from the Official Receiver.
