6. Functions of Council
The Council shall advise the Minister on all matters relating to the
jewellery industry and the processing of precious and semi-precious stones,
including the—
(a) promotion of the industry;
(b) protection of consumers’ interests;
(c) assaying and marking of jewellery;
(d) verification and grading of precious and semi-precious stones; and
(e) import, export, manufacture and sale of jewellery.
