Section 158: Offences

158. Offences (1) Any person who— (a) fails to comply with a request made to him under this Act to do or to refrain from doing an act; [Issue 5] L18 – 84 Revised Laws of Mauritius (b) fails to comply with a condition of a licence or permit issued to him under this Act; (c) carries on a classified trade on premises which have been closed by an order of a Court or of a Chief Executive Officer; (d) in a declaration required to be made under this Act, makes a statement which is false or misleading; or (e) in any other manner contravenes this Act, shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 25,000 rupees. (2) Where a person is convicted of an offence under this section, the Court may, in addition, order him to do, within such time as it thinks fit, any act which he should have done under this Act.
