5. Powers of Controller
(1) The Controller shall have such powers as may be necessary to carry
out the functions of the Office under, and in order to enforce, any of the industrial property enactments, and in particular to—
(a) require any person whose affairs are being investigated to answer any question or otherwise furnish any information or produce such document as may be relevant to the investigation;
(b) require any public officer to furnish information or produce any
document in his custody;
(c) apply to a Judge in Chambers for an order to authorise him or
any of his officers to enter and search, at all reasonable times,
any premise or place of business and remove thereupon any
document or material that may provide evidence relevant to an
investigation being conducted; and
(d) detain any document or goods that may be relevant to the
investigation.
(2) The Controller may, for the purposes of conducting any investigation
under this Act, use the services of any police officer or other public officer
designated for that purpose by the Commissioner of Police, or the Head of
Civil Service, as the case may be.
(3) The Commissioner of Police shall give such assistance as may be
necessary to the Controller to enable him to discharge his functions under
this Act.
