42. Liability for transhipment goods (1) The Authority or its licensed operator, shall from the time of acknowledgement of the receipt of transhipment goods and until delivery of the goods alongside the on-carrying vessel for loading, be liable for any loss or destruction of, or damage to, the goods or their packaging or container. (2) The liability of the Authority or its licensed operator under subsection (1) shall not exceed 50,000 rupees per 20 foot equivalent unit container or equivalent unless the nature and value of the goods have, before delivery to the Authority or its licensed operator, been declared in writing by the person delivering the goods.
