176. Offences (1) Where a certificate issued under this Part is false, the person who signed the false certificate and any person who uses or utters the certificate shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months. (2) Any person who cremates, burns, allows or causes to be cremated or burnt any corpse without having obtained the special permit or before the period specified under this Part, shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 500 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months.
