Section 26: Offences

26. Offences (1) Any person who contravenes section 8 shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine of not less than 25,000 rupees and not more than 100,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years. (2) Any person who— (a) prevents an inspector or a police officer from entering or inspecting any residential care home; (b) hinders an inspector or a police officer in the exercise of his duties under this Act; (c) fails to comply with any lawful request of an inspector or officer in the execution of his duty under this Act; (d) refuses or neglects to give any information which may reasonably be required of him and which he has power to give; (e) in an application for a licence, makes any statement which is false in any material particular; (f) fails to comply with any provision of this Act or regulations made under this Act, shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 50,000 rupees and to imprisonment not exceeding 2 years.
