143A. Liability of occupants for offences
(1) No person shall travel in a motor vehicle, or hire a motor vehicle as a
whole or at separate fares, unless he has ascertained that such vehicle is
licensed for the purpose for which he travels in, or hires that vehicle.
(2) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall commit an offence
and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine of not less than 500 rupees nor
more than 1,000 rupees.
