70. Making false statement
Where any person, for the purpose of obtaining a policy under section 55—
(a) makes a false statement in consequence of which the policy is
liable to be avoided; or
(b) wilfully performs an act which disentitles him to claim under the
policy,
he shall, unless he satisfies the Court that he acted without intention to
deceive, commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not
exceeding 5,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding
12 months.
