Section 55: Change of residence or place of business

55. Change of residence or place of business (1) Where the owner of a pleasure craft ceases to reside or have his place of business at the address recorded in the registration book of the pleasure craft, he shall, within 30 days of any such change of address, notify the Authority of his new address, and shall at the same time forward the registration book to it. (2) On receipt of the notification and the registration book, the Authority shall, on payment of the prescribed fee— (a) amend the entry relating to the pleasure craft in the register; (b) cancel the registration book; and (c) issue a new registration book, with the amendment made therein, to the owner. (3) Where the owner of a pleasure craft fails to notify the Authority of his new address within the period specified in subsection (1), he shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine of not less than 1,000 rupees and not exceeding 5,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months.
