68. Production of pleasure craft licence (1) Any person who operates a pleasure craft shall, at the request of an authorised officer, produce the pleasure craft licence or a copy thereof which is in force in respect of that pleasure craft. (2) Subject to subsection (3), any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall commit an offence and, shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine of not less than 1,000 rupees and not exceeding 5,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months. (3) Where the licensee— (a) fails to produce his pleasure craft licence or a copy thereof; or (b) produces a copy of his pleasure craft licence, following the request made under subsection (1), the authorised officer may require him to produce his pleasure craft licence within 5 days at the office of the Authority or to such police station or National Coast Guard station as the authorised officer may specify. (4) Where the licensee fails to comply with a requirement made under subsection (3), he shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to pay a fine of not less than 3,000 rupees and not exceeding 25,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.
