Section 20: Payment of compensation into Court

20. Payment of compensation into Court (1) (a) Subject to paragraph (b), the compensation payable in the case of death shall, unless otherwise ordered, be paid into the Court, and the receipt of the Court shall be a sufficient discharge in respect of the amount paid. (b) Where a workman leaves no dependants, the payment under paragraph (a) may be made to his heirs, or, where he has no heirs, to the person to whom the expenses of medical attendance and burial are due. (c) The aggregate amount of expenses of medical attendance and burial allowed under paragraph (b) shall be 200 rupees. (2) Where a weekly payment is payable under this Act to a person under a legal disability, the Court may, on an ex parte application, order that the weekly payment be paid during the disability into Court.
