10. Unclaimed property
(1) Where the owner of any property in Mauritius cannot be ascertained,
that property shall, for the purposes of this Act, be deemed to be unclaimed
property.
(2) Where a debtor cannot trace his creditor, the debtor may publish a
notice in 2 daily newspapers—
(a) setting out—
(i) the nature and amount of the debt; and
(ii) the name of the creditor; and
(b) requiring the creditor to notify him of his place of residence, not
later than one month from the date of the last publication of the
notice.
(3) Where no notice is given by a creditor to a debtor who has published
a notice under subsection (2), the amount of the debt shall be deemed to be
unclaimed property.
