14. Duty to mark jewellery (1) Any jewellery manufactured in Mauritius, by a dealer or on his behalf, for sale in Mauritius, shall be marked in a legible manner— (a) in the case of jewellery made of gold— (i) either with the fineness mark referred to in section 8 (a) or the State mark referred to in section 9 (1); and (ii) with the sponsor’s mark of the dealer; (b) in the case of jewellery made of silver, with the fineness mark referred to in section 8 (b); (c) in the case of jewellery made of platinum, with the fineness mark referred to in section 8 (c). (2) Any jewellery imported for sale in Mauritius shall be marked in a legible manner— (a) in the case of jewellery made of gold— (i) either with the manufacturer's identification mark referred to in section 12, or with the importer’s mark of the dealer; and (ii) with the fineness mark referred to in section 8 (a); (b) in the case of jewellery made of silver, with the fineness mark referred to in section 8 (b); (c) in the case of jewellery made of platinum, with the fineness mark referred to in section 8 (c).
