144. Inspection of books, accounts and documents
(1) Any public officer duly authorised, in writing by the Minister, may inspect the books, accounts, vouchers, deeds, contracts, receipts and all other
documents of a local authority.
(2) Every local authority shall, within such time as may be fixed by the
officer referred to in subsection (1), provide him with such information as he
may request for the purpose of carrying out his inspection.
(3) For the purpose of obtaining further information in respect of the
affairs of any local authority, the officer may, by notice given to the Chief
Executive, require the local authority to allow him to inspect any of the documents specified in subsection (1) within such reasonable time as he may
indicate.
