22. Oath to be taken by Councillor
(1) Subject to subsection (2), every Councillor shall, before taking his
seat, take and subscribe the oath specified in the Sixth Schedule at a public
sitting held in the Council Chamber.
(2) The Councillors present shall take the oath, as far as possible, in alphabetical order of their surnames.
(3) The seat of a Councillor shall become vacant where, without reasonable excuse, he fails or neglects to take and subscribe the oath specified in
subsection (1) within a period of 4 weeks of his election or appointment, as
the case may be.
