73. Security to be given by officers
(1) A local authority may take, or require any of its officers to give, such
security as it thinks sufficient for the faithful execution of the duties of his
office and for duly accounting for all money or property which may be entrusted to him.
(2) Any officer who, without reasonable excuse, fails to furnish the security required of him within 15 days of such request, or fails to renew a security which has been furnished within 15 days of its expiry, shall be considered to have vacated his office.
(3) No Councillor shall, for the purposes of this section, stand as surety
for an officer employed by the local authority of which he is a member.
